With over three decades of experience, Dr. Craig R. McIntyre provides expert consulting services on wood preservation, fire retardants for wood and standardization procedures. Previously, he was the Research and Development Manager with both Koppers Co., Inc. and Hickson Corporation for all of the activities related to wood treatment. In that capacity, Dr. McIntyre's responsibilities included Product Chemistry, Patents, Research and Product Development, New Products and Existing Product Technical Support and Regulatory Affairs. |
Long active in associations (see list above), Dr. McIntyre was recently honored with the AWPA Award of Merit, their most prestigious honor. He has served on the AWPA Executive Committee, is a Past Chair of Subcommittee T-2 on Treatment of Lumber and Timber and P-7 on Fire Retardants and was the Secretary of P-4 Poles. Currently, Dr. McIntyre chairs ASTM Subcommittee E5.14, External Fire Exposure Tests and has had a number of leadership roles in the ASTM E5 Fire Standards Committee as well.
He is the author or co-author of over 80 technical publications involving wood treatments and frequently presents at wood preservation conferences. He is a co-inventor of the CCA-OIL system for utility poles and he has 3 other patents involving preservative chemistry. Dr. McIntyre also authored an encyclopedia chapter on Fire Retardants for Wood.
Dr. McIntyre has assisted numerous organizations in bringing new preservative and retardant technologies to market as well as obtaining standardization within AWPA, IAPMO-ES, and ICC-ES.
Dr. McIntyre received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Oregon and his Ph.D. in Wood Chemistry from the University of Montana.
